What does it look like

The Norwich Terrier is a strong, compact dog with erect ears and a funny face. This is a fairly small dog: weight – 5 – 5.5 kg.

The Norwich Terrier is a real terrier: agile, energetic, hardy. All these descriptions can be found in the standard. Many different terriers. And small, and short-legged, and with erect ears, and everyone has funny faces in their own way. That's not the point. The dog of this breed is a small English aristocrat with a proud and important posture. And don't be confused by the modest color of his shirt. The beauty and charm of Norwich does not lie in its unusual colours. Beauty is becoming, clarity of lines, sparkling energy in every movement. Add to this a flexible mind, a balanced character - and here we have a typical representative of this breed.

Norwich Terrier personality

The character of a dog is one of the most important issues. A dog lives for 10-15 years and during this time it is very important that communication with the dog is enjoyable. What is really good about the Norwich Terrier is that it is a dog specifically for humans. A dog that adapts perfectly to whoever it lives with. To his habits, character and lifestyle. You want him to play noisy games with you or follow you for many kilometers. You want him to sleep in your arms or quietly enjoy life in his dog bed. The only thing that is really important for this dog is to be close to your loved one as much as possible, at least lie under a chair, but only to be close.

Another and, I think, very good feature for a domestic dog (living in an apartment, in a house) is the ability to stop in time. If your dog is “wound up” by enemies, cats, etc., then you can easily stop him with your voice. Just tell him!

Not every terrier, especially a hunting one (Fox Terrier, Jag Terrier), can be easily stopped and brought to life. This dog will not jump in one place for a long time, as Jack Russell Terriers do. At the same time, Norwich is a completely normal, temperamental Terrier. Precisely a TERRIER, but at the same time the calmest. Thanks to this circumstance, absolutely anyone can get a dog of this breed, even those who are getting a dog for the first time. Because a dog of this breed does not need to be trained (taken for training, learn commands for a long time). There is a feeling that from six months Norwich begins to understand human speech. Of course, all this is not true, but he listens sensitively to the intonations of the owner, he understands what is possible and what is not, what is bad and what is good. And it's great, it's easy, it's convenient!

Puppies of this breed are quite strong. They can walk up the stairs, jump on and off the sofa without any problems.

Care

What about care? Easy care! Like all wire-haired breeds, they are trimmed. This can be done by a professional in a salon, and over time you will learn too. Don't be scared! Your Norwich needs to be trimmed twice a year during the seasonal shedding season. The rest of the time, dogs of this breed do not shed, which means there is no dog hair on your sofas!

Diseases

Dogs of this breed practically do not have all genetically inherited diseases inherent in most dogs of other breeds.
