Tip 1:

ЕIf you plan to frequently transport your Norwich Terrier by car or you intend to exhibit it at a Dog Show, then immediately buy a larger plastic container (box).

Tip 2:

It is best to take a Norwich Terrier puppy, as well as any other breed, early in the morning on a weekend day. This will allow him to spend more time with your family before his first night away from home, and over the weekend your baby will adapt to his new home and you will learn more about his habits.

Don't forget to notify the breeder about the time of your visit. Because it is advisable not to feed the puppy before the road, especially before a long road.

If you are driving and not far from your home, then perhaps one of your family members will hold the puppy in their arms. Stock up on diapers and wipes in case your puppy gets motion sickness. It is impossible to drive a car and hold a puppy in your arms at the same time - the puppy is very nimble.

If you have a long way to go, then do not forget that the puppy will definitely need to go to the toilet, as well as move a little (maybe even several times). Give him this opportunity. If you are traveling for a long time, place the puppy in a plastic container - it will be more comfortable and safe for him there. He can lie down and rest. If the area where you eat is infested with an abundance of ticks (this applies to the warm season and especially spring), inspect the fur of a walking puppy for the absence of ticks.

If the puppy is not fully vaccinated (the puppy is less than 3 months old), it is advisable to use absorbent diapers - place one of them on the bottom of the container and change it as needed. The same applies to transporting a puppy in winter, cold or rainy weather.

Please monitor the temperature in the machine and container. It shouldn't be too hot or too cold. The puppy should not be placed in a drafty place. If you do not have air conditioning in your car, make sure that there is no draft from the open window into the container towards the puppy.

On the road, the puppy needs to be given water, and on a long journey, it also needs to be fed. We usually provide puppy food for several days. Do not overdo it with food so that the puppy does not get seasick. A light snack is what you need.

If you are flying by plane, check with the airline in advance about the dimensions and material of the container (carrying bag) in which the puppy will fly and the conditions of transportation.

If you are taking your puppy on a train or staying at a hotel along the way, your neighbors may be unhappy. After all, a puppy can whine all night. This is normal, the baby, in his opinion, he was left completely alone, without his mother, brothers and sisters. Take him in your arms and rock him a little like a child - the puppy is also a child, he will warm up and fall asleep.

It is absolutely forbidden to punish a puppy for behavior that you consider unworthy. The puppy will not understand why you are punishing him and will always be afraid of you. Treat your Norwich Terrier puppy like a small child at this stage.

Call us if you have questions about transporting your puppy while on the road.

Be sure to call and tell us how the puppy survived the journey.
