Prevention is daily monitoring of your pet’s behavior, as well as vaccination and treatment for parasites.

The Norwich Terrier is a very strong dog in terms of health. He has virtually no genetic diseases. However, the Norwich Terrier, like any other dog, needs prevention of various diseases.

What does a healthy dog look like?

A healthy dog is an active, cheerful dog, with a cold and wet nose (after sleep, the nose can be dry and warm for a short time), shiny coat, with clean, no discharge from the eyes.

What does prevention consist of?

Во-первых, ежедневно следите за поведением вашей собаки. Не волнуйтесь. Через пару недель после приобретения щенка это войдет в привычку; вы сделаете это автоматически.

Look at how the puppy moves, how he stretches when he wakes up, how cheerful and cheerful he is, how he eats (with or without appetite). If your Norwich Terrier is a little lethargic, keep an eye on him. Perhaps he was just tired, or perhaps it was caused by malaise.

Inspect your Norwich Terrier frequently for scratches, small wounds, and parasites.

An attentive puppy owner can always describe what has changed in the dog’s behavior, when it started, and after what (some event, after a change in diet, etc.). If it is really something serious, then a chronology of events will be of great help to the veterinarian.

Secondly: prevention of various viral diseases (vaccination, i.e. vaccinations), as well as preventive treatment against parasites (helminths, fleas, ticks, etc.).

In our kennel we vaccinate all puppies and dogs with modern high-quality vaccines. We also carry out preventive treatment against parasites, because our dogs walk a lot and also attend exhibitions. All owners are given clear and unambiguous instructions on when, with what frequency and with what to vaccinate puppies and carry out preventive treatment.

With such an integrated approach, any problem will be identified at an early stage.

Symptoms that mean you should contact your veterinarian:

  • PROLONGED VOMITING:

Prolonged (repeated) vomiting is clearly a sign of disease.

  • DIARRHEA:

Diarrhea can be caused by various factors: a change in the puppy's home, new food, but it can also indicate the onset of an infectious disease. Don't expect everything to go away by itself. Dehydration of a puppy's body (and this is precisely dehydration) will have a very negative impact on health.

  • Cough and runny nose:

If your dog has a cough that occurs repeatedly over a short period of time.

  • DYSPNEA:

If your dog has shortness of breath, this undoubtedly indicates problems..

  • Whining when trying to urinate or defecate:

  • REFUSES FOOD:

Any refusal to eat during two regular feedings is a serious reason to contact a veterinary clinic.

  • Sluggish condition of the dog

Dogs have days when they are less energetic than we are used to seeing them. However, if this condition lasts more than two days, then you should be wary and take the dog to the vet.

Many diseases develop without obvious clinical symptoms. In this case, the dog can have only one striking symptom - refusal to eat. It is necessary to accurately identify the disease at an early stage, while it can still be cured.

All of the above is a reason to immediately contact a veterinary clinic.

What else could happen to your puppy?

INJURIES:

  • Don't let your puppy jump off the couch.
  • Be attentive to small objects that the puppy can reach or pick up from the floor. Anything that a puppy can accidentally swallow is dangerous.
  • Foam rubber, cellophane, foil, batteries, and boiled bones are dangerous.
  • Protect from contact with electrical wires.
  • A puppy can get severe poisoning from a small piece of chocolate or chewing gum.
  • Any pills can cause irreparable harm to your puppy's health. A separate tablet, a blister, a box or a jar may interest a puppy.
  • Find out in advance which plants in your home may be poisonous to dogs.

We wish you and your Norwich Terriers good health!
