YOU HAVE A PUPPY:
Advice on feeding a puppy is usually given by the breeder. But there are general recommendations:
- A small puppy needs to be fed at least 4 times a day.
- The puppy is growing and the portion size should increase, and the number of feedings can be reduced over time.
- It is recommended not to change the food that the breeder gave you for at least the first 3-4 weeks.
- If you want to change food or feeding system, consult your breeder or veterinarian.
- You can expand your puppy’s diet (fruits, vegetables, treats) starting with a minimum amount of a new product.
YOU HAVE AN ADULT DOG:
An adult healthy Norwich Terrier is usually fed 2 times a day. There are different opinions on how to properly feed a dog. What's better? Ready-made commercial feed or natural food.
Ready-made food includes dry food, canned food and freeze-dried food. These feeds are already balanced in composition by the manufacturer. Feed rates are calculated taking into account the weight and age of the animal. The popularity of these foods is their convenience. This food is easy to take with you on a trip.
Natural food is raw meat, raw fish, bone components, offal, eggs, vegetables, fruits, cottage cheese. If you decide to feed your dog such food, then your veterinarian should balance the composition of such food. It is worth noting that food from the table (soup, sausages, etc.) is not natural food.
If you want to change your dog's diet, then you must study this topic well and take full responsibility yourself.
We believe that if there is no need, then there is no need to change food.
What not to feed dogs?
- Boiled bones
- Chocolate and chewing gum (this is poison for dogs).
- Grapes, citrus fruits – undesirable.
- Onions and garlic are undesirable.
- Exotic fruits (they can cause allergies).
- Sweet.
- Sausages, smoked, fried, spicy.
The dog should always have fresh water available at all times.
